The retreat / Sacred Valley

A place to
experience the journey.

We are surrounded by mountains, in the very heart of the valley, next to Inca archaeological remains such as Pusaq rac’ayniyoc. Our centre is characterised by the energy it receives from the different apus and neighbouring snow-capped mountains. Its location allows us to reach the valley’s different archaeological centres without difficulty, including the world wonder of Machu Picchu.

Tradition, connection and rest.

What is a retreat?

It is a ceremony in which participants have the opportunity to experience a process of personal healing that helps them face their past and present lives, manage areas of personal conflict and look towards the future, with the support of medicinal plants used by our ancestors. These traditions have been passed down from generation to generation and are used today by our Andean priests (alto misayoc).

What is Ayahuasca?

Ayahuasca is a psychoactive brew traditionally used by Indigenous peoples of the Amazon. It is made from a combination of two plants: the Banisteriopsis caapi vine and the leaves of Psychotria viridis. This brew has been used for centuries in healing ceremonies and spiritual rituals. There are important stages:

Preparation and process

Preparing for an ayahuasca retreat is a crucial aspect. It includes a specific diet, generally vegetarian or vegan, and abstaining from alcohol and other substances. This preparation helps cleanse the body and mind, making the ayahuasca experience deeper and more effective.

Ayahuasca ceremonies

Ayahuasca ceremonies

are guided by experienced shamans who have been trained in ancestral traditions. During the ceremony, participants drink the brew and embark on an inner journey that may last several hours. The shamans use chants to guide participants through their experience.

Post-ceremony integration

Integration is an essential part of the ayahuasca healing process. Retreats usually include integration sessions in which participants can share their experiences and receive guidance on how to apply the insights gained to their daily lives.

What is Wachuma or San Pedro?

Wachuma, or Huachuma, is better known in Peru as San Pedro. It grows in the Peruvian Andes and, since ancient times, its essence has guided our ancestors towards a connection with the divine. The name San Pedro is believed to refer to a connection with divine sources because it bears the name of the Christian saint who guards the gates of heaven (Saint Peter). The name Wachuma in Quechua means dizzy or drunk. The scientific name of San Pedro or Wachuma is Echinopsis pachanoi.

Therapeutic use

In Peru, San Pedro or Wachuma is used by shamans to treat patients’ ailments, such as alcoholism and depression, and above all to heal the soul. This indicates that the functions of a shaman are not restricted to physical ailments. The shaman’s objective in the healing ritual is to help the patient flourish through the ceremony and open the subconscious. It is a healing plant for understanding things in life, with great harmony and clarity thanks to the goodness of this plant. With the ceremony you receive, all you need to do is lose your fear.

What is yoga and what is it for?

This practice uses physical postures, breathing exercises and meditation to improve overall health. Yoga developed as a spiritual practice thousands of years ago. Today, most people who practise yoga do so as exercise or to reduce stress.

What is equine therapy?

It is a discipline used by physical or mental health professionals with the aim of promoting rehabilitation at the neuromuscular, psychological, cognitive and social levels, using the horse as a therapeutic tool that helps with anxiety. At our centre we have Peruvian Paso horses (unique in the world for the smoothness of their gait), which we use for equine therapy and also for relaxing rides.
